47. Jesus calls His disciples
/ luke 5 /
/ listen as you follow along /

One day, Jesus was standing by a big lake, β΄οΈteaching π¨πΌπ« a crowd of people about God. He noticed some fishermen π£ nearby, washing their nets after working hard all night. πThese fishermen, including a man named Peter, had been fishing π£ but hadn’t caught anything. π€¦βοΈ
Jesus got into Peter’s boat π₯οΈ and asked him to push it out a little from the shore. Jesus sat in the boat and taught the people from there. π¨πΌπ« When He was done teaching, Jesus told Peter, “Take the boat π₯οΈ out deeper and let your nets down to catch some fish.” π

Peter was tired π₯± and said, “We’ve been fishing all night and didn’t catch anything. But because you say so, I’ll try again.” Peter and his friends let down their nets, and something amazing π€© happened! Their nets filled with so many fish π that they began to break. They had to call their friends in another boat π€ to help them, and both boats were so full of fish that they started to sink. βοΈ
Peter was amazed π» and realized Jesus was someone very special. π He fell to his knees πβοΈ and said, “Lord, I’m not good enough to be near you.” But Jesus said to him, “Don’t be afraid. π± From now on, you will fish for people!” π£ This meant Peter and his friends would help Jesus tell others about God’s love. β€οΈ

Peter, along with his fishing π£ partners James and John, brought their boats π₯οΈ back to shore. They left everything behind—their boats, πΆ their nets, and all those fish—and followed Jesus. Jesus had chosen them to be His special helpers, called disciples. They would now travel 𧳠with Him and help share His message with the world. π
